Sunday's Barcelona transfer talk news roundup: Georginio Wijnaldum, Diogo Dalot, Lionel Messi

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Barcelona on Sunday, January 17.

The January transfer window is now open, with Barcelona continuing to be linked with a host of big names.

The future of Lionel Messi continues to dominate after he failed to engineer an exit in the summer, but the cash-strapped Spanish giants are understood to be considering reinforcements too following a poor first half of the season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news from the Camp Nou.

Georginio Wijnaldum 'decides to leave Liverpool'

Georginio Wijnaldum has reportedly decided to leave Liverpool on a free transfer.

The Netherlands international's current deal at Anfield is due to expire at the end of June, and it is understood that talks over an extension have reached a stalemate.

Barcelona continue to be strongly linked with the central midfielder, and according to The Mirror, Wijnaldum will reject any offer from Liverpool in order to move to Camp Nou on a free.

The report claims that the 30-year-old 'dreams' of joining the Catalan giants, and Ronald Koeman's position as head coach has only strengthened Wijnaldum's desire to make the move.

The Dutchman has again been a key player for the Reds this season despite the speculation surrounding his future, making 25 appearances in all competitions, while he has not missed a single Premier League game in 2020-21.

Barca are also said to be confident of signing Lyon forward Memphis Depay on a free transfer.

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Barcelona.

Dalot is currently spending the season on loan at AC Milan, where he has made 10 starts and four substitute appearances in all competitions.

While the 21-year-old has made a positive impression at San Siro, there is no deal in place for the move to be made permanent at the end of the campaign.

According to Calciomercato, Barcelona are willing to pay £10m to sign the Portuguese ahead of the Italian giants.

The report claims that the Catalan giants are eager to increase competition for places at right-back in order to ease the burden on Sergino Dest.

Despite already selling Timothy Fosu-Mensah to Bayer Leverkusen, United are expected to be open to selling Dalot in 2021.
