Half-Time Report: Goalless at Villa Park

Neither Aston Villa nor Fulham are able to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes at Villa Park in the Premier League.

Aston Villa and Fulham have both missed chances to go ahead in a goalless opening 45 minutes at Villa Park in the Premier League.

Fulham started brightly, and it was Cauley Woodrow who had the first chance of the game when he headed over a Pajtim Kasami cross.

The same duo linked well midway through the first half, but Kasami's poor touch meant that his weak effort was easy for Brad Guzan to collect.

Villa had a great opportunity to break the deadlock when Leandro Bacuna chipped the ball towards the back post for Andreas Weimann, who could only head wide of the target from a good position.

A counter-attack almost handed the hosts the opening goal before the break, but Bacuna was denied when David Stockdale pushed his powerful effort to safety.

Woodrow missed another opportunity to open his account when his effort from a tight angle was kept out by Guzan.
