How Arsenal could line up against Burnley

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up in Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley.

Arsenal will be looking to make it back-to-back Premier League wins at the start of the new campaign when they welcome Burnley to the Emirates Stadium in Saturday's early start.

The Gunners recorded a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in their league opener last weekend.

Unai Emery's side will now be looking to overcome a Burnley team that also made an impressive start to the 2019-20 season - recording a 3-0 home win over Southampton.

Emery has a number of dilemmas this weekend when it comes to team selection, with record signing Nicolas Pepe pushing to start after coming off the bench against the Magpies.

With that in mind, Sports Mole looks at how the capital outfit could line up against the Clarets.

POSS ARS XI vs. BUR

Out: Hector Bellerin (knee), Rob Holding (knee), Emile Smith Rowe (groin), Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin), Kieran Tierney (hernia)
Doubtful: Granit Xhaka (bruising), Mesut Ozil (illness), Sead Kolasinac (security concerns)

Arsenal have a fairly extensive injury list at the moment, with Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding, Emile Smith Rowe and Konstantinos Mavropanos still unavailable for selection.

New signing Kieran Tierney remains on the sidelines, meanwhile, with the Scotland international continuing his recovery from a double hernia operation.

Emery has revealed that both Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are ready to return to the squad following security concerns - the former, though, has been struggling with illness this week, while it remains to be seen whether the latter is involved this weekend.

Granit Xhaka played the full 90 minutes against Newcastle last time out but an update on Arsenal's official website revealed that the midfielder was a doubt due to a bruised lower back and leg.

As mentioned, Pepe should come in for his full debut. Dani Ceballos and David Luiz are also pushing for the starting XI, although Alexandre Lacazette might have to make do with a spot on the bench once again as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang prepares to start as the lone forward.
