League Two roundup: Perfect Oxford United stay top

Oxford United remain top of League Two after recording a 2-1 win over Bury, while Fleetwood, Chesterfield and Southend also maintain their 100% records.

Oxford United remain top of the League Two table after recording a 2-1 win over Bury at the Kassam Stadium.

U's duo Danny Rose and Johnny Mullins found the net either side of Tom Soares's strike for Bury, who were reduced to 10 men late on as Nathan Cameron picked up his second yellow card.

Fleetwood Town, Chesterfield and Southend United also maintained their 100% starts to the season this afternoon.

David Ball scored his second and third goals of the season as Fleetwood beat Plymouth Argyle 2-0 at Home Park.

Southend played the entire second half a man short at Hartlepool United, thanks to Barry Corr's dismissal for violent conduct on the stroke of half time.

However, Freddy Eastwood's fifth-minute strike was enough to seal all three points for the Shrimpers at Victoria Park.

Gary Roberts and Eoin Doyle were on the scoresheet as Chesterfield overcame Cheltenham Town 2-0 at the Proact Stadium.

Elsewhere, an Oliver Lancashire own goal helped Burton Albion continue their unbeaten start to the campaign with a 1-0 win at home to Rochdale.

Northampton Town brought Newport County back down to earth, beating the Welsh side 3-1 at Sixfields Stadium.

AFC Wimbledon defeated 10-man Wycombe Wanderers thanks to a solitary strike from Luke Moore.

Meanwhile, in sunny Essex, Dagenham & Redbridge bounced back from their opening-day defeat by seeing off York City.

There were no goals in the games involving Bristol Rovers, Scunthorpe United, Mansfield Town and Exeter City; Morecambe and Torquay United could not be separated either.

Earlier in the day, Portsmouth's winless start to the season continued as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Accrington Stanley.

Defender Peter Murphy scored twice for Stanley, including an 85th-minute equaliser after a David Connelly brace had turned the game in Pompey's favour.

Results in full: Accrington 2-2 Portsmouth, AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Wycombe, Bristol Rovers 0-0 Scunthorpe, Burton Albion 1-0 Rochdale, Chesterfield 2-0 Cheltenham, Dag & Red 2-0 York City, Hartlepool 0-1 Southend, Mansfield 0-0 Exeter, Morecambe 1-1 Torquay Utd, Northampton 3-1 Newport County, Oxford Utd 2-1 Bury, Plymouth 0-2 Fleetwood Town.
