Lucie Safarova expresses her delight after beating Ekaterina Makarova to reach the first Grand Slam semi-final of her career at Wimbledon.

Lucie Safarova has expressed her delight after reaching the first Grand Slam semi-final of her career at Wimbledon.

The Czech made it through to the last four on Tuesday with a convincing victory over Russia's Ekaterina Makarova.

Safarova will meet either former champion Petra Kvitova or Barbora Zahlavova Strycova for a place in Saturday's final.

"It is amazing. I played really well and wanted to get through this match and I am so happy," the 23rd seed told BBC Sport.

"I was serving well and being aggressive and taking her time away and that was the key to the victory."

Safarova's previous best showing at Wimbledon was a third-round appearance back in 2007.
