Niku Kruger has claimed that the future is bright for rugby in the USA as the team prepare to get their World Cup campaign underway.
Despite heading into the tournament as underdogs to upset the teams in Pool B, Kruger believes that the development of the sport back home means that there is plenty to be optimistic about as Mike Tolkin's side look to cause a shock on the international stage.
"It's been really interesting. Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in America, so a lot of people are getting very interested in the game," the scrum-half told reporters. "A lot of young kids are starting to enjoy it now, and because they're starting to realise you don't have to be a giant of a man to play the game, like you have to be when you play American football.
"The things that rugby represents, in terms of team culture, family, and things like that, you don't get in other sports. Parents are really excited to get their kids involved."
Kruger and his teammates meet Samoa in Brighton on Sunday.
