Wigan Warriors too strong for Leeds Rhinos

Wigan Warriors climb up to fourth in the Super League table following a 21-6 win over Leeds Rhinos.

Wigan Warriors have climbed up to fourth in the Super League table after a comfortable 21-6 win over Leeds Rhinos this evening.

The hosts broke the deadlock inside the opening 15 minutes when Joe Burgess collected the ball just short of the line from a chip forward before leaping over.

Matty Smith intercepted a Zak Hardaker pass just short of 10 minutes later to double Wigan's lead, running back 30 metres before converting his own try.

Leeds fought hard to get back into the match in the second half, and were rewarded early on when Liam Sutcliffe got the ball over from a Ryan Hall break.

However, the Warriors managed to restore their 14-point cushion inside the final 10 minutes when Ben Flower powered his way over, while Smith added a drop goal just before full time.

The result moves Wigan above their opponents, who now sit sixth in the table.
