Wolverhampton Wanderers to miss out on Hulk due to Brexit?

Brazilian attacker Hulk is unlikely to move to the Premier League due to the new work permit criteria coming into play post-Brexit, according to a report.

Wolverhampton Wanderers could reportedly miss out on signing Brazilian attacker Hulk due to new regulations coming into force after Brexit.

The 34-year-old recently confirmed that he would be leaving Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG when his contract expires at the end of the year - paving the way for a move to the Premier League.

Wolves have been tipped to move for the former Zenit Saint Petersburg man since that admission, with the West Midlands outfit without Raul Jimenez for the forseeable future after his skull fracture.

However, with Brexit set to have a significant impact on players moving to the Premier League from abroad, The Athletic claims that Hulk would not meet the criteria needed to qualify for a work permit.

The report claims that Hulk's four-year spell without representing Brazil will hinder his chances of securing a move to England, and with the new criteria being based on a points system, playing in the Chinese Super League would see him accrue fewer points than players who ply their trade in La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga.

Should a proposed deal for Hulk fall through, Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has reportedly identified Salomon Rondon as another ideal replacement for Jimenez.
