Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Brentford

Sports Mole looks ahead to the Championship match between in-form Wolverhampton Wanderers and high-flying Brentford at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to four matches when they host Brentford in the Championship on Sunday.

Kenny Jackett's men edged to a 1-0 win over Watford on Boxing Day, which took them within four points of the playoff places.

Their recent upturn in form comes after a run of five straight defeats in November and at the start of this month, which had dropped the side out of the battle at the top of the table for a brief period.

Wolves will be boosted by the return of Matt Doherty, who is available again after serving the final game of a three-match suspension.

The team have reported no new injury concerns following the win at Vicarage Road, so will otherwise have the same squad available.

Meanwhile, Brentford will be looking to bounce back following a difficult afternoon against Ipswich Town on Boxing Day.

The Bees were 3-0 down before half time in the 4-2 loss to the Tractor Boys, which dropped them to fifth in the table.

Another defeat for Mark Warburton's side could see them drop out of the playoffs, just two days after they missed the chance to climb to the top of the table.

Sam Saunders made a case for a place in the starting lineup for the first time this season after coming off the bench to score a quickfire brace in the defeat.

Jonathan Douglas is expected to be included in the squad despite carrying a calf problem, but Alan McCormack and Scott Hogan are still sidelined with respective ankle and knee injuries.

These two sides, who were both promoted from League One last season, have already met this season, with Brentford securing a comfortable 4-0 win at Griffin Park a few weeks ago.
