Jez Moxey refuses to defend loan signing of Yannick Sagbo

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey concedes that the club were wrong to sign Yannick Sagbo on loan from Hull City.

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey has refused to defend the club's decision to bring Yannick Sagbo in on loan earlier this season.

Sagbo made just one start in a loan spell from Hull City before being sent back to the Premier League side, but Moxey believes that Wolves had to take the risk because of the need to sign a striker.

"I'm not going to defend it. It is there for all to see. It wasn't a panic signing. It was a loan and Kenny Jackett was happy that he fitted into the criteria we have for signings, as a loan arrangement," Moxey told supporters at a Q&A session.

"It could happen again. People who employ people can get things wrong. Chelsea spent £50 million on [Fernando] Torres for example. It wasn't a financial crippler for us but we tried to mitigate it by sending him back and bringing somebody else in."

Wolves added an attacking option to their squad last month by signing Danny Graham on loan from Sunderland.
