Marko Arnautovic: 'West Ham United fans are amazing'

West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic hails the club's fans as "amazing" after the side won 3-0 against Southampton on Saturday.

West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic has hailed the club's fans as "amazing" after the side won 3-0 against Southampton on Saturday.

The victory, assured with a brace from the Austrian, was a welcome one following the 3-0 defeat to Burnley before the international break which was marred by pitch invasions by some fans.

Arnautovic said that he is pleased for the supporters that his side were able to provide a solid response to their previous defeat.

"I always enjoy being on the pitch and I love to win games – everyone did a good job, not only the players but the fans as well," the 28-year-old told The Mirror. "We know that when our fans are behind us, they are amazing. We gave them what they wanted, so well done to the fans and well done to the boys.

"I feel sharp and I try to do my best, but whenever I score goals people ask me, 'Is this your best year?' But I work hard every week, and when I come off the pitch after each game I like to think I've done everything possible to help my team.

"This game was very different to the last one here, but it was very important to win and this time I can go back to my family, play with my kids and feel happy again. This is the most important thing."

The victory over the Saints was the Hammers' first since February.
