West Bromwich Albion 'frustrated' by league position and form

West Bromwich Albion release a statement following the speculation that Pepe Mel could be sacked after just a month in charge.

West Bromwich Albion have this evening released a club statement following the speculation that Pepe Mel could be sacked.

Reports have emerged this week that the West Brom players aren't happy with Mel's methods after a month in charge.

Mel is yet to register a league victory in six attempts and the club are now just a point above the drop zone.

"There is also a lot of frustration at our league position and run of form. I would be more concerned if there wasn't," said sporting and technical director Richard Garlick in the statement.

"Various meetings have been held within the football department over the past few days to discuss our current situation and what needs to be done to improve results in our final 11 games.

"The discussions have proved constructive. There has been a lot of soul searching and it is clear everyone has a real hunger and desire to keep the club in the Premier League.

"Pepe, the coaching staff and players will now do everything in their power to achieve this common goal."

The Baggies next host Manchester United on March 8.
