West Bromwich Albion confirm accepted bid from Hull City for Shane Long

West Bromwich Albion confirm that they have accepted an undisclosed bid from Hull City for striker Shane Long, who rejected a new deal at The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that they have accepted an undisclosed bid from Hull City for striker Shane Long.

Reports emerged this morning claiming that the Premier League outfit have agreed a fee, which could rise to £7m plus add-ons, with the Tigers.

Hull tried to lure the Republic of Ireland international to the KC Stadium towards the end of the summer transfer window last year, but were unsuccessful.

However, it appears that a move is edging closer as the Baggies have confirmed that the 26-year-old rejected a new contract offer at The Hawthorns.

Sporting and technical director Richard Garlick told the club's official website: "We began talking to Shane about a new contract last spring and, during the ongoing negotiations, we made him two offers which would have significantly increased his salary.

"However, despite our best endeavours, Shane has declined to sign a new contract. Shane effectively only has 18 months left on his deal and with him no closer to accepting our terms and then Hull making an acceptable offer, we felt it was in the club's best interests to accept the bid."

Long moved to West Brom from Reading in 2011.
