Half-Time Report: Adam Le Fondre goal gives Cardiff half-time lead over Watford

Adam Le Fondre's 12th-minute goal gives Cardiff City a half-time lead away at Watford.

Adam Le Fondre's goal has given Cardiff City a 1-0 lead away at Watford at half time.

It took the Bluebirds just 12 minutes to score, after Kenwyne Jones beat Heurelho Gomes to a high ball and headed it down to Le Fondre, who walked the ball into the empty net.

Watford will feel they should have taken an earlier lead, but Troy Deeney had a shot cleared off the line and Matej Vydra was denied by a one-handed save by David Marshall.

However, the goal gave Cardiff momentum as they created several more chances, including one for Le Fondre that he blazed two yards over the bar.

Vydra had two chances for the home side as half time approached but he was thwarted by desperate Cardiff defenders, and Gabriele Angella fired over from a tight angle as Watford chased an equaliser.
