Sam Vokes "can't wait" to begin Wales's Euro 2016 campaign

Burnley striker Sam Vokes says that he "can't wait" for Euro 2016 to get underway after being named in Wales's 23-man squad.

Sam Vokes has claimed that he "can't wait" to get going at Euro 2016 after being named in the Wales squad.

The Burnley striker was included in Chris Coleman's 23-man squad for the tournament, which gets underway in France next week.

It is the first time since 1958 that Wales have been involved in a major tournament.

"It's obviously a privilege to be named in any Welsh squad but particularly one going into a major tournament," Vokes told Burnley's official website. "I've enjoyed a great season with Burnley, and this tops everything off.

"It's the first time the country has been at the Euros and we've been training hard for two weeks in preparation. The build-up has been intense and you do get the feeling that it's a real occasion for Wales to be involved.

"Now the 23 names have been announced it feels that little bit closer and I just can't wait to kick on. We've a friendly against Sweden next week and then straight on to France."

Wales have been grouped with England and Slovakia.
