Kazenga LuaLua joins Sunderland until end of season

Sunderland announce the signing of Kazenga LuaLua on a free transfer until the end of the season after the winger was released by Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sunderland have signed Kazenga LuaLua on a free transfer until the end of the season after the winger was released by Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 27-year-old made 111 appearances for the Seagulls since joining the south coast club in 2011, scoring 13 goals.

However, LuaLua was subsequently deemed surplus to requirements at the Amex Stadium and spent the majority of 2017 on loan at Queens Park Rangers over two spells.

Brighton subsequently terminated the Congo international's contract on Thursday, enabling him to hook up with the Championship outfit on a deal until the summer.

"Kaz was determined to come here and get playing first-team football again and I look forward to helping him play the kind of football he is capable of," Chris Coleman told the official Sunderland site.

"He's quick, skillful and has a lot of experience at this level. He gives us another option in attack and, most importantly, is up for the fight."

LuaLua began his career with Sunderland's North-East rivals Newcastle United.
