Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers says that St Johnstone deserved to take a point from their visit to Celtic Park.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that St Johnstone deserved to take a point from Sunday's visit to Parkhead, where they held the Scottish champions to a 0-0 stalemate.

The Hoops boss said that he was disappointed with the result, but refused to criticise his players for failing to penetrate the Saints' defence.

"Of course we always want to win, but there are lots of positives," Rogers told BBC Sport.

"We have lots of injuries and we had a very young team, but people like Tom Rogic and Cristian Gamboa got game time - and it was Jack Hendry's first home game.

"It was a slower rhythm for us in the first half and we didn't take our chances. Probably a point was about right for both teams."

The result leaves Celtic nine points clear of second-placed Rangers - and Aberdeen in third - at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
