Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino reiterates that he wants to keep Harry Kane at the club, but his stance may change if the striker asks to leave.

Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur will consider selling Harry Kane to Real Madrid if the English striker asks to leave.

The 24-year-old is understood to be one of three attacking targets on Los Blancos' radar over the next two transfer windows, along with Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan and Juventus ace Paulo Dybala.

Tottenham have already lost Gareth Bale and Luka Modric to the reigning Spanish and European champions in the past, but Pochettino hopes that in-demand striker Kane will not go down the same route as his former clubmates in seeking a move away from North London.

"As Tottenham coach I would say that if Madrid come in with a bid, we don't want to sell, because he will stay here and they will have to understand that," he told El Chiringuito.

"If the player asks you to leave, as happened with Modric and Bale... We'll see what happens. Today, that has not happened. I hope that Harry Kane can be here for many years and provide many goals, wins and a title. That is what we want."

Kane ended 2017 as the top scorer in Europe's top five leagues, while also eclipsing Alan Shearer's record for the most Premier League goals netted in a calendar year.
