Mauricio Pochettino would "relish" England manager role

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino reveals that he would "relish" the opportunity to manage England at some point in the future.

Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he would "relish" the chance to manage England due to having helped shape the current squad.

The Argentine has made a name for himself as one of the best young managers in world football thanks to his work at Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

In Guillem Balague's new book A Brave New World, serialised in the Daily Mail, Pochettino reveals his eagerness to work with players he has helped bring through the ranks.

The 45-year-old is quoted as saying: "If I were to be an international manager one day, I'd relish the opportunity to coach the England national team.

"I've heard that I've been considered for the job before, but I don't know if there was any truth in it. I'd be reunited with loads of familiar faces: Harry Kane, Danny Rose, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Adam Lallana.

"Of the last 21 England debutants, 17 have played under me - there's also the likes of Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, Calum Chambers, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw and Ryan Mason. In the last four-and-a-half seasons, 11 regulars in the England squad made their international debuts under my stewardship."

Tottenham currently sit third in the Premier League table and have challenged for the title in the last two seasons.
