Half-Time Report: Martin Harnik cancels out Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Martin Harnik's equaliser brings Stuttgart back level at 1-1 against Schalke at half time at the Veltins Arena.

Schalke 04 are level at 1-1 with Stuttgart at half time after Martin Harnik cancelled out Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's first Bundesliga goal since November.

The lead belonged to Schalke in just the ninth minute when a Leon Goretzka cross eventually fell to Huntelaar, who reacted well to score for the first time in over 1100 minutes of league football.

A clever run off the ball from Leroy Sane almost brought Schalke a second goal just a few moments later, but Sven Ulreich made a fine save to keep the shot out.

Stuttgart improved as the first half progressed, and they were back on level terms when Harnik collected a clever flick from Daniel Ginczek before chipping the ball over Ralf Fahrmann.

Huntelaar should have scored his second to give Schalke the lead again, but the Dutchman could only hit the post after finding the space to meet a corner.
