Imanol Agirretxe: 'Real Sociedad will improve'

Imanol Agirretxe insists that Real Sociedad will improve following a difficult start to the season.

Real Sociedad striker Imanol Agirretxe is confident that the Spanish outfit will improve following a difficult start to the season.

La Real finished fourth in La Liga last season, but they are currently 15th in their domestic division and have also lost their first two matches in the group stages of the Champions League.

"We have the advantage of our experiences last year. It all went wrong for us last season as well. We hope that history will repeat itself and we can go back up the league," he told AS.

"The enthusiasm for the Champions League is not lost. We can't forget what has happened to this club. We have to go into every European game remembering that tough past.

"We have a real chance to make history. I trust this team and in the work we do. I'm sure we'll be back near the top of the league."

Agirretxe has been with Sociedad since 2003.
