Half-Time Report: Real Madrid being held by Getafe

Real Madrid remain level with Getafe following a goalless first half in their La Liga clash.

Real Madrid and Getafe have headed into half time level following a goalless opening 45 minutes in La Liga this morning.

Karim Benzema came close to opening the scoring early on when Marcelo set him up for a curling effort from the edge of the box, but he failed to find the target.

James Rodriguez kept the pressure coming for the visitors, but Cristiano Ronaldo's finish was easily saved by the Getafe keeper.

Real continued to dominate as the half progressed, but Jordi Cordina remained alert to deny Benzema and Isco in the space of a few minutes as the league leaders pushed for an opening goal just before the break.

Sammir had the best chance of the first half for the hosts shortly before the half-time whistle when he tried to pick out the top corner, but he failed to force Iker Casillas into action.

Toni Kroos came within inches of breaking the deadlock from he struck the crossbar in stoppage time, firing a loose ball towards the goal, but the woodwork came to the rescue of the home side.
