Preview: Queens Park Rangers vs. Huddersfield Town

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between high-flying QPR and Huddersfield at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers could move back into the automatic promotion spots on Saturday if they beat Huddersfield Town at Loftus Road.

QPR currently trail second-placed Burnley by just one point, meaning that if they can better the Clarets' result against Sheffield Wednesday then they would leapfrog them in the table.

Harry Redknapp's side boast a formidable home record this season too, with only league leaders Leicester City winning at Loftus Road in the Championship.

Overall, however, the hosts' form has been inconsistent, with three wins and three defeats in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Their last outing saw them cast their goalscoring worries aside as they scored more than two goals in a game for the first time this season, beating Ipswich Town 3-1.

QPR's defence remains the best in the league, particularly at home where the Hoops have conceded just four times in 12 matches.

However, Redknapp could be without Joey Barton for the match after he limped off during the victory over Ipswich, while Alejandro Faurlin and Julio Cesar are both definitely out.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, reaped immediate rewards from club-record signing Nahki Wells last weekend as he scored a late winner to help his new side to a 1-0 victory over Millwall.

That win lifted Town up to 12th in the Championship table, a position of mediocrity that accurately represents their inconsistency this season.

Mark Robins's side have won nine, lost nine and drawn seven matches in the league, although in all competitions they have been beaten just once in their last six outings.

Top scorer James Vaughan is nearing a return for the visitors, but he is unlikely to start the match as Wells is expected to be given his full debut.

Peter Clarke, Jon Stead and Anthony Gerrard are all doubtful for Huddersfield as they look to climb as high as eighth with a victory.
