Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa: 'France success can aid Newcastle United'

Newcastle United's Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa says that the club can reap the rewards of the team's French internationals, with France qualifying for World Cup last week.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa believes that Newcastle United can reap the benefits after the club's French contingent helped les Blues qualify for the World Cup last week.

Didier Deschamps's men overturned a two-goal deficit against Ukraine en route to booking their ticket to Brazil next summer, with Yohan Cabaye, Loic Remy, Mathieu Debuchy and Moussa Sissoko all part of the squad that secured progression to the finals.

Despite the Magpies enduring a difficult opening to the Premier League campaign, Alan Pardew's men have won four of their last six in England's top flight - losing once.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the 24-year-old Yanga-Mbiwa said: "All the players are confident.

"The French team has qualified and all the players are happy and trying to do well to help themselves go to the World Cup."

Newcastle climbed to eighth in the league standings after securing a 2-1 victory over Norwich City on Saturday at St James' Park.
