Alan Pardew: 'Yohan Cabaye focused on Newcastle United'

Alan Pardew says that Yohan Cabaye is "settled" at Newcastle United following Arsenal's interest in the midfielder during the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that midfielder Yohan Cabaye is committed to the Magpies' campaign by claiming that he is "settled" at the club.

The Frenchman was linked with a move to Arsenal in the closing weeks of the summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialise, resulting in Cabaye staying put at St James' Park until at least January.

Despite being dropped from the team following Arsenal's approach, Pardew has admitted that the midfielder has been working hard after failing to make the French squad for their World Cup qualifiers.

"Yohan Cabaye stayed behind and has had a full week here," The Chronicle quotes Pardew as saying. "He's been able to get a lot of work done. His wife has just had a baby too.

"Yohan has just got on with his work and settled down. He's getting on with the job in hand. He's been terrific and he's just got his head down to get on with life."

Cabaye is expected to be in the squad for Newcastle's trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.
