Maurizio Sarri slams 'complacent' Napoli

Maurizio Sarri says that his team showed a lack of concentration during their 3-2 defeat to Bologna.

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has said that his team lacked concentration as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat to Bologna this afternoon.

The Partenopei could have returned to the top of the Serie A table with a victory, but instead they lost for the first time in 18 competitive matches.

"We ran into every pitfall that we could've had in this game," Sarri told Sky Sport Italia. "We'd talked about all the potential pitfalls, the risk of arriving for this game with less concentration and tension than needed.

"We had come off a big game against Inter and were simply unable to recharge the batteries quickly enough. Perhaps there was a little bit of complacency too. We went behind here due to a refereeing error, because Mattia Destro was offside, then wasted four clear-cut chances to score and gave away a second.

"At that point we stopped believing and that was a huge mistake, because what happened at the end proved with our attacking potential we can always get back into the game. We must focus on the details, because the team is allowing far more than it used to in previous matches. With the same solidity we had three weeks ago, we would've won this."

Napoli are back in action with a Europa League tie against Legia Warsaw on Thursday, before taking on title-rivals Roma in Serie A next Sunday.
