Manchester United are reportedly looking to sell three centre-backs in this summer's transfer window, with a deal Ajax's Lisandro Martinez edging closer to completion.

Manchester United are reportedly looking to sell three central defenders in this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils are looking to make a marquee centre-back signing and have identified Ajax's Lisandro Martinez as one of their top targets, with a recent report claiming that they are closing in on a deal to sign the Argentine.

According to The Mirror, United are expected to offload Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe should Martinez complete his big-money move to Old Trafford.

The report adds that all three players will be sold this summer as head coach Erik ten Hag does not want his squad to be overloaded with centre-backs.

Bailly has recently been linked with a move to Napoli, who have identified the 28-year-old Ivorian as a potential replacement for Chelsea target Kalidou Koulibaly.

Meanwhile, both Jones and Tuanzebe are deemed surplus to requirements and the pair have just 12 months remaining on their contracts.

The potential arrival of Martinez would see the 24-year-old compete with Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof for a regular place in Ten Hag's starting lineup.
