Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are in a two-way fight to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, according to a report.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in a two-way fight to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer at the end of June.

The France international's contract at Old Trafford only has little over one month left to run, and he is widely expected to leave the 20-time English champions in search of pastures new.

Juventus have been in talks with the midfielder's agents in recent days, with the World Cup winner thought to be keen to return to Turin ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, PSG have placed a more lucrative contract on the table, and the midfielder is tempted by a move to the French capital.

Romano claims that Pogba is 'taking his time' when it comes to making a final decision, but Juventus and PSG are currently the only two clubs in the race for his signature.

Manchester City had been strongly linked with the midfielder earlier this month, with Citizens head coach Pep Guardiola said to be keen to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer.

Pogba had allegedly agreed personal terms with the English champions before changing his mind, as he feared a backlash over a move across Manchester.

Real Madrid have also long been linked with the Frenchman, but Los Blancos have seemingly cooled their interest to fully focus on signing Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe.

Pogba has struggled with injury problems during the 2021-22 campaign but has still contributed one goal and nine assists in 27 appearances for Man United in all competitions.

The former Le Havre youngster has not featured for Ralf Rangnick's side since picking up a calf injury against Liverpool on April 19, though, and he is again a major doubt for the team's final Premier League match of the campaign against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Pogba only made seven appearances for Man United in his first spell at the club, which ended with him moving to Juventus on a free transfer, but he has played 226 times for the Red Devils since his return.

The midfielder left Man United on a free transfer in 2012 to join the Old Lady, where he won four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia crowns, scoring 34 goals and registering 40 assists in 178 appearances.

Pogba has allegedly been offered a three-year deal worth £6.3m a season to return to Juventus, which is significantly less than he would earn if he made the move to Paris.

The Frenchman is said to be holding out for a contract with an annual salary worth €11m (£9.3m), but the Italian giants would not be able to pay him that amount.

Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Lee Grant are also expected to leave Man United on free transfers at the end of June.
