Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes says that his side have now developed 'a winning habit' after a tough start to the season.

Manchester United attacker Bruno Fernandes has said that his side have now developed 'a winning habit', with the Red Devils continuing their impressive run of form against Arsenal on Sunday.

The 20-time English champions opened their 2022-23 Premier League season with back-to-back losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

However, Erik ten Hag's side have now been victorious in their last four, including a 3-1 success over Arsenal in the league on Sunday afternoon.

Fernandes played an important role in the victory, setting up Marcus Rashford for his first, while the Portuguese was also involved in the first and third goals.

"It has to become a habit," Fernandes told MUTV. "We know that, playing for this club, [winning] has to be a habit. We have to do that. We know that sometimes we get a result, sometimes we don't, but the fight and the spirit and the togetherness has to always be there to get three points.

"I thought everyone was compact. The togetherness was there, the fighting spirit and everything and that's why we get the three points and that's why we have a performance like that.

"Sometimes you have to be deep, you have to defend, you have to defend your own box because the other team has quality and can cause you problems. If you do like we did today, you don't concede many and you score more than them.

"We know we can be a threat on the counter-attack and we can also play a little bit more and we have to play a little bit more, we know that."

Since arriving at Man United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, Fernandes has scored 51 goals and registered 40 assists in 132 appearances for the Red Devils.

The Portuguese is currently sporting the captain's armband in the absence of Harry Maguire, who is now behind Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane in the pecking order for the centre-back spots.

Ten Hag was keen to pay tribute to Man United's defensive unit after the Arsenal clash, with the team only conceding twice in their last four matches.

"He (Tyrell Malacia) played really well, [as did] the whole back four. I think David [de Gea] and Rapha (Varane) bring their routine in, their experience, and then you see how it works," said the Dutchman.

"It's really a unit and it's difficult to create chances against them. Even when the pressing is not always good, they are stable and it's good to see because that wins you football games."

Man United are next in Premier League action against Crystal Palace on Sunday, but they will first take on Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday.
