Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester United could line up for Thursday's Europa League last-16 second leg with Real Betis.

Manchester United will be forced to cope without Alejandro Garnacho for the second leg of their Europa League last-16 tie with Real Betis on Thursday evening.

The teenager left Old Trafford on crutches after sustaining an ankle problem against Southampton at the weekend, and he will spend at least a few weeks on the sidelines.

Garnacho joins long-term absentees Anthony Martial, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek on the sidelines, while Antony is ill and has not made the journey either.

On a brighter note, Victor Lindelof and Marcel Sabitzer are both in contention for minutes, while Marcus Rashford can expect to occupy the number nine spot as he aims to make European history.

One more strike for the 25-year-old would see him become the youngest Englishman and youngest Man United player to score 25 major European goals, and he may take the place of Wout Weghorst, who did not even last until half time against Southampton before being taken off.

Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho will likely support Rashford if that is the case, while Anthony Elanga could take advantage of Antony's absence to earn an increasingly rare start out wide.

Casemiro's impending four-game domestic ban means nothing for the Europa League, and he should certainly start this one, potentially alongside the fit-again Sabitzer as Fred enjoys a break.

Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire are both candidates for rotation in the backline, but Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and David de Gea should hold their places with a three-goal lead to protect.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Malacia; Casemiro, Sabitzer; Sancho, Fernandes, Elanga; Rashford
