Burnley injury, suspension list ahead of first game back

Sports Mole rounds up Burnley's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their first Premier League game back against Manchester City.

Burnley are due to return to Premier League action with an away game against the champions Manchester City between June 19 and June 21.

The Clarets were in strong form before the league was called to a halt in March, winning four of their last seven top-flight matches, remaining unbeaten in the process.

Sean Dyche's side have actually only lost once in the Premier League since New Year's Day and held Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw in their last fixture on March 7, leaving them 10th in the table.

The club's supporters will be hoping that their side can pick up where they left off, although they face a tough examination away to Pep Guardiola's side, who are due to face Arsenal on June 17.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Burnley's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their first game back at the Etihad Stadium.

Matthew Lowton

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: June 19-21 (vs. Manchester City)

Lowton has been on the sidelines since picking up a knee injury against Arsenal at the start of February. The defender avoided surgery, though, and could now return to action over the next few weeks.

Jay Rodriguez

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: June 19-21 (vs. Manchester City)

Rodriguez is also a major doubt for Burnley as the attacker attempts to overcome the knee injury that he picked up in his side's last game against Tottenham. The 30-year-old has stepped up his recovery over the last couple of weeks but his spot against Guardiola's side is in doubt.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: June 19-21 (vs. Manchester City)

Gudmundsson has suffered an injury-hit campaign, making just seven Premier League appearances after finding it difficult to overcome various hamstring and groin problems. The Iceland international could be ready to play a part in the final weeks of the campaign, though.

Ashley Barnes

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hernia
Possible return date: June 19-21 (vs. Manchester City)

Barnes is a major doubt to feature against City as the forward recovers from the hernia operation that he underwent earlier this year. The 30-year-old has not featured for the Clarets since New Year's Day but looks set to play a role in the final weeks of the season.

BURNLEY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Burnley have no suspension concerns heading into their next fixture.
