Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Norwich City

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Norwich City.

Pep Guardiola takes on Norwich City for the first time as Manchester City manager when he and his side travel to Carrow Road on Saturday evening.

City's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur has been the one blot on an otherwise imperious start to another defence of their Premier League crown.

So far on the road the Citizens have been perfect, winning 5-0 at West Ham on the opening day and 3-1 at Bournemouth.

With Liverpool again looking relentless, City know that only a win here against Daniel Farke's exciting Canaries will do in their pursuit of a third consecutive Premier League crown.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for the champions of England.

Benjamin Mendy

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 21 (vs. Watford)

Benjamin Mendy's time in England has been plagued by injury and the Frenchman is once again almost certain to be unavailable on Saturday. The priority is currently to get the 25-year-old sufficiently match-fit to take part.

Leroy Sane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 29 (vs. Arsenal)

Sane's mooted summer switch to Bayern Munich was left in tatters after a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury ruled him out for the foreseeable future. The winger will next be seen in 2020.

John Stones

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Norwich)

John Stones has been missing with a thigh injury since featuring on the opening day against West Ham United. The England man is likely to be back in contention, however, which will be useful for Guardiola after Laporte's injury against Brighton.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh injury
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Norwich City)

Jesus is very likely to return after missing the last two matches with a thigh problem. The Brazilian was cruelly denied a late winner against Tottenham by VAR, and has not been seen on the pitch since.

Ilkay Gundogan

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Norwich)

Gundogan missed out on Germany's 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland on Monday night with a cold, but is likely to be back in contention for City at the weekend.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

French defender Aymeric Laporte was withdrawn after 37 minutes last time out against Brighton after sustaining a serious looking knee injury during a Seagulls counter-attack. The former Athletic Bilbao man had been in line to finally make his long-awaited international debut, but will now be out for the foreseeable future.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match.
