Malaga win late against Real Betis

Samuel scores in stoppage time to help Malaga defeat Real Betis 3-2 at La Rosaleda.

Malaga have snatched a dramatic late victory against Real Betis to end a run of five games without a win in La Liga.

Pele Mel's side had twice fought back from a goal down at La Rosaleda, but had no answer to Samuel's goal two minutes into stoppage time.

The home side took the lead when Eliseu picked out Roque Santa Cruz in the 18th minute, but a free kick from Verdu levelled matters just after the half-hour mark.

It stayed that way until half time, but the Portuguese international restored Los Boquerones' lead in the 61st minute.

Their advantage lasted just a couple of minutes, as Jordi Figueras finished inside the box following a Juan Carlos free kick.

The match looked destined to end all square until Samuel popped up to fire Malaga above Los Verdiblancos, who now sit just one place above the relegation zone.
