Lazio president Claudio Lotito hints at Stefan de Vrij departure

Lazio president Claudio Lotito suggests that defender Stefan de Vrij will be allowed to leave the Italian giants during the January transfer window.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has suggested that defender Stefan de Vrij will be allowed to leave the club during the January transfer window.

Liverpool, Juventus and Real Madrid have all been linked with a move for the Netherlands international, who has helped guide the Italian side to fifth place in the Serie A table.

De Vrij has just six months remaining on his current contract, and Lotito has acknowledged that the player could sign for another team at the start of 2018.

Lotito told Radio Incontro Olympia: "We have always said that people come and go but Lazio remains. I hope this does not apply to presidents.

"It depends on the ethics and behaviour of the player. As a club we have always behaved very well towards the players and we'll see what the players choose.

"We are used to enforcing our rights whilst always respecting the rules."

De Vrij has made a total of 87 appearances in all competitions since moving to the Stadio Olimpico in 2014.
