Jonjo Shelvey is confident that Liverpool can take something from the game at Manchester City today.

Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has insisted that his side can win at Manchester City this afternoon.

Shelvey has said that the Reds can take inspiration from their victory over City in the League Cup semi-final last season.

The two teams also played out a 2-2 draw at Anfield in August, and Shelvey is confident that Liverpool can get something from today's game.

"The semi-final win shows it can be done, and hopefully we'll be able to do it againt," Shelvey told Liverpool's official website.

"I think we should have won [in August]. We had enough chances to win the game.

"Man City are a good team, they are the champions of England, so you have got to remember that. But if we go there and play the way we did at Anfield then we will get something from the game."

Shelvey recently admitted that he wants to force his way back into the Liverpool first team.
