Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claims that Roberto Firmino could shake off a foot injury in time for Sunday's Merseyside derby with Everton in the Premier League.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Roberto Firmino could be involved in Sunday's Merseyside derby with Everton at Anfield.

The Brazilian attacker came off the bench for the final few moments in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City but missed the 4-0 Premier League win over Manchester United in midweek due to a foot issue.

Firmino is not understood to be nursing anything serious, but Klopp has affirmed that the 30-year-old will still need to be assessed before the clash with the relegation-threatened Toffees.

"No other problems but Bobby is getting better and better. It's uncomfortable and painful so we have to make sure he is there today on the pitch," Klopp told reporters at his pre-match press conference. "There are still two days to go so maybe - if Bobby gives the thumbs up then he can be involved."

Firmino has amassed 11 goals and four assists from 31 appearances in all tournaments this season but has only started nine Premier League matches amid his injury woes and competition for places.

Liverpool remain one point behind Manchester City at the top of the table with six games left to play, and Pep Guardiola's side could temporarily increase that gap to four with victory over Watford on Saturday.
