Sports Mole dissects the action as Swansea City and Liverpool share the points in a 0-0 draw at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Swansea City and Liverpool shared the points in a pulsating goalless afternoon of football at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Both sides had chances in the opening half of football, but Raheem Sterling smashed the crossbar for Liverpool as the score remained level at the break.

The second period followed a similar pattern of both sides having chances, but neither could make the breakthrough as the points were shared.

Here, Sports Mole dissects the 90 minutes of action between the two sides.

Was the result fair?

On the balance of play, yes. Both sides enjoyed impressive periods with the ball but clear-cut chances were at a premium. It would have been harsh had either side lost this match this afternoon. It was as expected prior to kickoff, both sides impressing with possession but struggling to find that elusive final pass.

Swansea's performance

6/10. The home side were very comfortable on the ball as expected, but failed to get star striker Michu into the match in advanced areas. It is easy to see why Swansea get such good results at the Liberty with their work-rate and desire, but they will be disappointed at not really creating too many chances.

Liverpool's performance

6/10. Liverpool might have lost this match earlier in the season. They found themselves under pressure for large periods but defended in numbers and demonstrated a real team spirit. However, Luis Suarez struggled at times and without their talisman you do wonder where the goals are coming from.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Pablo Hernandez: Defenders are usually given the award in goalless draws, but the Spanish winger was the game's brightest spark this afternoon with his pace and trickery a particular threat.

Biggest gaffe of the match

Sterling had a glorious opportunity to play in Suarez towards the end of the match, but his pass was too long and the chance quickly disappeared.

Referee performance

John Moss had a fairly productive 90 minutes of action at the Liberty Stadium. He refused to award a host of penalty claims despite pressure from the home crowd and allowed the match to flow in the correct areas.

What next?

Swansea: The Swans continue their league campaign against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday before travelling to face Arsenal next Saturday.

Liverpool: Brendan Rodgers's side are also in midweek action against Tottenham Hotspur before hosting Southampton in the league next Saturday.
