Liverpool's Andrew Robertson is refusing to put a date on his return from a shoulder injury, with the defender missing the last seven matches for the Reds.

Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson has refused to give a timeline for his return to action following a period on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury.

The 29-year-old suffered the shoulder knock during Scotland's 2-0 success over Spain in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign on October 12, and the player has not featured for club or country since.

Robertson has consequently missed Liverpool's last seven fixtures across all competitions, including a draw at Luton Town and a shock defeat at Toulouse in the Europa League.

Kostas Tsimikas has stepped up from deputy to first-choice left-back for Jurgen Klopp, however centre-back Joe Gomez has also operated on the left side of the Reds' backline in recent matches.

The 67-time Scotland international was in attendance at Hampden Park as Steve Clarke's side ended their qualification campaign with a 3-3 draw against Norway, and the full-back provided an update on his injury.

"I'm getting there, slowly and surely. Surgery was a success which was the main thing, no complications from it or anything like that," Robertson told Viaplay Sports during their coverage of Scotland's clash with Norway.

"It's so far so good, three weeks since my surgery now so everything is progressing well, I have just got to take it bit by bit and week by week. Everything has went well up to this point and hopefully that continues. Hopefully, before we know it I'll be back on the grass.

"I've not looked that far ahead yet," the Liverpool man said when he was quizzed on a potential return date. "I'm just trying to take it week by week, I'm trying not to get frustrated, I'm not the best injured so I'm trying to take small wins every single week.

"I don't want to put a game in mind and then I don't make it or I come back before then. I am just taking it slowly but surely and then there will be a time to start pushing it and when that comes I'll try and get on the pitch as quickly as I can."

Due to his shoulder issue, Robertson has missed the last three Scotland matches, including a 4-1 friendly loss at Decathlon Arena against France on October 17.

With Euro 2024 qualification having already been secured heading into this month's international break, Clarke's side will not be too displeased by being forced to share the spoils with both Georgia and Norway, although back-to-back draws means that the Tartan Army have finished behind Spain in the Group A standings.

News of Robertson's surgery going as planned will be music to the ears of Liverpool supporters and management alike, with the Reds facing a congested festive schedule which includes fixtures against Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal before Christmas.

Pep Guardiola's treble-winning Citizens will welcome Klopp's charges to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, when the Merseysiders will be aiming to leapfrog their hosts in order to reach the summit of the Premier League standings.
