Ross McCormack and Billy Paynter score braces as Leeds come from behind to overcome Peterborough.

Leeds United came from behind to defeat Peterborough comprehensively at Elland Road this afternoon.

Early on, Shaun Brisley threw himself in front of a Robert Snodgrass shot to deny the home side taking the lead.

Neil Warnock's men continued to press but couldn't find a way past Paul Jones in the Peterborough goal. Leigh Bromby watched his header fly past the Boro keeper only to rattle the crossbar.

Soon after, the visitors took the lead when Joe Newell capitalised on some sloppy defending and found a way past Andy Lonergan from a narrow angle.

The lead didn't last long, however, as on the stroke of half time Billy Paynter pounced after Jones fumbled a free kick.

Leeds came out firing after the interval and soon had a two-goal lead as Ross McCormack scored his 18th and 19th goals of the season soon after the resumption.

Paynter joined McCormack in notching a brace by scoring his second 17 minutes from time to put the result beyond doubt.

Three points for Leeds sees them climb two places to 12th while Peterborough drop a place to 18th.
