Clare's well-taken effort gave Hearts a 1-0 Scottish Cup win over Livingston.

Hearts midfielder Sean Clare aims to be a key player in the weeks and months to come after getting off the mark with a cup winner.

Clare's well-taken effort was enough to see off Livingston on Sunday and secure a William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round tie with Auchinleck Talbot.

The 22-year-old had been challenged to come to life by the Hearts coaching staff at half-time and responded by curling home a first-time effort within three minutes of the restart.

The former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder had a slow start to his Tynecastle career after arriving in late September while still working his way back from foot surgery, but he believes he can go from strength to strength.

"Yeah it was definitely a proud moment to score my first Hearts goal," Clare told Hearts TV.

"I'm buzzing to get it but more importantly to help the team with the win.

"It's just a platform. I need to start putting in more performances like that and being the difference a lot more. That's my aim."
