Andy Lonergan: 'Blackburn Rovers goal should have stood'

Andy Lonergan concedes that Fulham were fortunate to claim all three points against Blackburn Rovers after their opponents had a goal wrongly ruled out.

Fulham goalkeeper Andy Lonergan has admitted that he was "amazed" to see Blackburn Rovers disallowed a perfectly legitimate goal on the weekend.

The Lancashire outfit were denied a share of the spoils after the match officials ruled out Grant Hanley's headed attempt, which Jamie O'Hara could only scoop away once the ball had crossed the line.

With no goal-line technology used in the Football League, the controversial decision cost Blackburn dearly in their attempt to push up the Championship table.

Speaking after the game, Lonergan is quoted by Get West London as saying: "I knew it was a goal. I looked and was amazed that they did not give it.

"When you play teams like Blackburn, the balls come into the box a lot. It was pretty intense. I think the last time I had a game like that was when Rory Delap was playing for Stoke, so a long time ago."

Fulham, who went on to win the game 2-1, now find themselves in 11th place in the league table.
