Davy Klaassen leaves Everton after just one season at the club to join Werder Bremen.

Werder Bremen have confirmed the arrival of Netherlands international Davy Klaassen from Everton for an undisclosed fee.

Klaassen spent just one season in the Premier League with the Toffees, starting only three top-flight games all season and featuring seven times overall.

Huddersfield Town had been tipped to make a move for the out-of-favour midfielder, but Bremen have got there first after sending a delegation to Manchester to finalise discussions earlier this week.

Former Ajax skipper Klaassen has been handed the number 30 shirt at the Weserstadion and is considered a direct replacement for Borussia Dortmund-bound Thomas Delaney.

Speaking to Bremen's official website, manager Florian Kohfeldt said: "We made it clear to Davy where we want to develop with Werder, how we want to play and what a special club Werder is."

Sporting director Frank Baumann added: "We're happy to have found exactly the player we were looking for. Davy brings a lot of quality, talent and a lot of experience at a relatively young age. He is a player who will help our team from day one."

Klaassen made 163 appearances in all competitions for Ajax prior to joining Everton in June 2017.
