Team News: Dundee United welcome back John Rankin for Celtic test

Dundee United are bolstered by the return of midfielder John Rankin as they welcome Celtic to Tannadice.

Midfielder John Rankin returns to the Dundee United lineup for today's clash with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic following his recovery from a leg injury.

However, Aidan Connolly is only fit enough for a place on the bench after struggling with illness, and Calum Butcher misses out with a shoulder problem.

Celtic, meanwhile, are boosted by the return of Stefan Johansen, who was rested for the 2-1 victory over Dundee on Wednesday.

Adam Matthews also starts, but defenders Charlie Mulgrew and Mikael Lustig are still out.

Dundee United: Cierzniak; McGowan, Fojut, Morris, Dixon; Souttar, Rankin, Erskine, Telfer, Spittal; Muirhead

Celtic: Gordon; Matthews, Denayer, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Bitton; Commons, Johansen, Armstrong; Griffiths
