Derby County's scoring run ends as Wigan Athletic win to nil

Wigan Athletic win 1-0 at Championship high-flyers Derby County, as the Rams fail to score for the first time in 15 games.

Wigan Athletic kept a third consecutive clean sheet on New Year's Day as they started 2014 with an away win at Championship high-flyers Derby County.

Jean Beausejour's first goal of the season was enough to give the Latics a 1-0 win over the Rams, who had won eight of their previous nine league games and scored in each of their last 14.

Wigan's defensive success was even more impressive considering that they were forced to reshuffle their backline on 29 minutes when Ivan Ramis limped off the field with a groin injury.

Beausejour's winner came midway through the second half. The winger slammed home from an acute angle after collecting Callum McManaman's short corner.

Derby's defeat sees them fall to fourth in the Championship table, while Wigan rise to 11th.
