Lucas Piazon: 'Chelsea loan system has improved'

Midfielder Lucas Piazon claims that more players are beginning to benefit from Chelsea's strategy when it comes to loaning squad members to other clubs.

Midfielder Lucas Piazon has praised the development of Chelsea's strategy when it comes to loaning players out to other clubs.

In recent years, Chelsea have made a wide range of signings and immediately sent the additions out on loan and in some cases, players have been sold on for a profit without having made a first-team appearance for the Blues.

However, Piazon - who has just completed his second year on loan at Fulham - feels that there is evidence to suggest that more players are getting chances to progress their careers, whether that be with Chelsea or elsewhere.

The 24-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I think it is getting better now. Ruben [Loftus-Cheek] is a great example. He is going to the World Cup and he was on loan at Palace. A lot of players did well on their loans and they got a move or are back in the Chelsea first team.

"The boys are understanding better what a loan is and what you have to do well to develop for the Chelsea first team or for another team. The system is improving and our understanding of the system is also improving. It is working better now.

"The contact they have with us now is more consistent as well. A few years ago the contact was every once in a while, now it is much more. We feel a little closer to the club."

Piazon has spent six separate loan spells away from Stamford Bridge since January 2013.
