Manchester City prepare to battle Chelsea for the signature of Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, according to a report.

Chelsea will reportedly face competition from Manchester City for the signature of Ben Chilwell.

The Blues have allegedly identified the Leicester City defender as the perfect player to fill their left-back spot moving forward, with neither Emerson Palmieri nor Marcos Alonso convincing this season.

However, according to inews, City are also interested in signing the England international, meaning that two of the country's biggest clubs are set to lock horns for his signature.

The report claims that Leicester value Chilwell in the region of £60m, while the Foxes are under no pressure to sell with the 23-year-old on a contract at the King Power Stadium until June 2024.

Chelsea had reportedly been keen to secure a deal for the defender in January but have accepted that they are unlikely to be able to sign him in the middle of the season.

City have also had their problems in the left-back spot, with Benjamin Mendy failing to convince since making the move from Monaco in 2017, while Angelino has also struggled since returning to the Etihad Stadium.
