Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez breaks an unfortunate Premier League record in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over Chelsea at Anfield.

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez broke an unwanted Premier League record in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Chelsea.

The Reds are sitting five points clear at the top of the Premier League table after enjoying a successful outing against Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, before young full-back Conor Bradley drove the ball home to score his first goal for the club.

Although Dominik Szoboszlai added a third just after the hour mark, Chelsea quickly pulled a goal back through Christopher Nkunku.

However, any doubt over the result was quashed in the 79th minute when Luis Diaz tapped the ball in from Nunez's low cross.

While the Uruguayan would have been pleased with his late assist, he was left to rue his luck during Liverpool's commanding victory.

The 24-year-old spurned the chance to add to his 11-goal tally for the season when he fired his first-half penalty against the post.

Nunez's penalty miss was one of four occasions where he struck the frame of the goal in Liverpool's dominant performance at Anfield.

Due to his misfortune, the Uruguay international has become the first player on record to hit the woodwork four times in a single Premier League game.

In contrast to the forward's frustrating evening, Bradley enjoyed a memorable outing, providing two assists to go with his 39th-minute strike.

As a result, the 20-year-old became the youngest Liverpool player to register two assists in a Premier League fixture since Trent Alexander-Arnold achieved the feat in February 2019.

Bradley's impressive performance helped Jurgen Klopp's side extend their unbeaten home run to 23 top-flight matches (W18, D5).

They have also won each of their last four Premier League games, ensuring that they head into Sunday's clash with Arsenal in a confident mood.
