Chelsea receive a potential £61m boost to this summer's transfer budget unrelated to the ongoing sale of the club, according to a report.

Chelsea have received a potential £61m boost to this summer's transfer budget unrelated to the ongoing sale of the club, according to a report.

Following approval from both the Premier League and the UK government of Todd Boehly's takeover of the club, the deal is set to be completed in the coming weeks, ending concern over the future of the club, or at the very least, its ability to perform in the upcoming transfer window.

However, even before that takeover is finalised, Chelsea have received a boost ahead of the summer with the club generating an additional £61m courtesy of a share issue, according to a report from the Mirror.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel will be hopeful that the generated funds will be added to his transfer budget in the coming weeks, with the soon-to-be-completed takeover allowing the German to begin preparations of how best to spend the money once Roman Abramovich's sale of the club is finalised.

Tuchel and Chelsea have a busy transfer window ahead of them it appears, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen set to depart on free transfers upon the expiration of their contracts in June, whilst Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are being linked with moves to Barcelona.

The likes of Jules Kounde have reportedly been identified as a defensive reinforcements, whilst Aurelien Tchouameni and Christopher Nkunku continue to be linked with moves to Stamford Bridge as well.
