Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Watford

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter against Watford.

Chelsea make the short trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Saturday evening looking to hit back from having their seven-match winning streak ended in midweek.

After making a number of changes to his starting lineup, Frank Lampard witnessed the Blues succumb to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the EFL Cup fourth round.

However, despite that disappointment, the West Londoners head into this weekend's fixture sitting in fourth position in the Premier League standings.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension list for Chelsea ahead of the meeting in Hertfordshire.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

While Lampard has revealed that Kante is due to return to training before the end of the week, it would be a surprise if the Frenchman features on Saturday. Lampard may also prefer to take no risks on the midfielder ahead of Tuesday's Champions League meeting with Ajax.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

Christensen has been absent from the first team since sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Denmark. However, the centre-back could make the substitutes' bench this weekend.

Antonio Rudiger

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

Rudiger has not featured since playing 45 minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the middle of September. While an appearance against Watford is highly unlikely, the Germany international is not far away from making his return to the first team.

Emerson Palmieri

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

Palmieri had been expected to make an appearance against Man United, only to suffer a hamstring strain in the build-up to the match. The full-back is unlikely to play any part of this weekend's encounter.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: Unknown

Loftus-Cheek has been out since May with a major Achilles injury and he is believed to still be a month away from being considered for selection.

Ross Barkley

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

An ankle injury, suffered against Newcastle United on October 19, has kept Barkley out of contention for recent matches. It remains touch and go whether the Englishman will feature versus the Hornets, although it would not be a surprise if the playmaker is selected on the substitutes' bench.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players who are suspended for this contest.
