Kolo Toure "really excited" to join Celtic

Centre-back Kolo Toure says that he is "really excited" to have joined Celtic after penning a one-year contract with the Scottish champions.

Experienced centre-back Kolo Toure has revealed his delight after joining Scottish giants Celtic on a one-year contract.

The 35-year-old had been available on a free transfer after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season and has once again linked up with former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers in the Scottish Premier League.

Toure, who could make his debut in next weekend's pre-season clash with Barcelona, has said that he feels "really excited" to have joined Celtic, branding them "one of the biggest clubs in the world".

"I feel great. I feel really excited because it's going to be a new challenge for me. I've come to one of the biggest clubs in the world and it's a privilege for me to be here," Toure told the club's official website.

"I know a few friends who play football here and I know what the club has been achieving, winning a lot of trophies and playing Champions League a lot so that's something I'm looking at.

"I played with Brendan when he was at Liverpool and when we spoke about the chance for me to come here I was really happy because we know each other for a long time now. We've worked together and he's a top manager. For me it's a privilege to come and work with him again."

Toure, who earned 118 Ivory Coast caps between 2000 and 2015, has represented Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool during a successful playing career.
